My Dilemma

Decisions, decisions, decisions. So the one that is most pressing now is what kind of car to buy when we return to the States, since that is the first thing we have to do. Mini van...been there done that. But I still have three kids at home and four not married. (go figure) SO I still need a big car (but not tooo big says Noelle (like a mini van)) ....sigh.... what to do, what to do! I've been looking at the GMC Acadia and like it. But what else is out there, I mean it has been THREE years since we've owned a car. So if you have any great suggestions (meaning anything but a mini van) PLEASE let me know!!

I think the Toyota Sequoia is a nice and roomy looking vehicle and it's what I would be driving if I could afford it. Happy shopping! Can't wait to see you all.

The Toyota Sequoia is my favorite car ever! Jared sold it while I was in California over Christmas! I also had a Yukon Denali which I loved too. But MY suggestion would be the Sequoia, the new model is very nice. When do ya'll head back to the states?

Having had to drive a mini-van for 15 years straight...I'm not much help. My question is, "do you remember how to drive?" :)

Well...just my personal opinion.

You should get a Denali for you (like what Mandi and Jeff have), a Ford F250 for Dad, and a grey Mazda 3 for me =]

Just food for thought =]

We want a Yukon XL. It has the two front seats (option for three seat belts in the front), middle bench, and optional rear seating. It is alittle longer than the mini van which is what we want so there is more room for all of our stuff. And good for driving in the snow.

Andrea's got a good point. You've got a multi-driver household. You're not likely going to need to pile everyone into the same car all at the same time very often. BUT, if that's what you want to do, you're only options are SUV or mini-van. Whatever you buy, don't buy American (unless you buy Ford) because they fall apart (but, Ford's not taking any government money, so I try to support them).

Mini-vans are economical, less expensive and generally reliable. Whereas SUV's are large, and ineffecient (generally speaking). The only thing that SUV's have going for them is that they LOOK cool (and it'll give Ed an excuse to buy a boat cuz - hey! - you might as well tow SOMETHING with it, right?).

I suppose a third option might be a crossover vehicle. Or maybe the Honda Fit.

Perhaps we can help you out better if you tell us what your requirements are. How many people does it need to hold? What kind of price range are you looking at? What kind of mileage are you shooting for? Resale? Maintanence? Insurance?

I'm sure none of what I just said helped...but, it was fun commenting!

Buy everyone a Smart Car and you can caravan everywhere you go and just peel off when you are going in different directions. You would look like a caterpillar going down the road. Gas is going up again. WE paid 2.07 last night in Moab. This must be a consideration.

A car that Arthur and I have test drove is the Buick Enclave...SO NICE. Honda Pilots are good. Acura MDXs are great. Also, we'll be in Cali the whole month of August so if you're around there then, we'll probably bump into each other.

A Honda Pilot or a Toyota Sequoia would be my suggestion ... great resale, reliable and they look nice!

Toyota Sequoia or Nissan Murano (I LOVE the look of these)!

I have a Honda Fit and love it, but I think it will probably be a little small for you since you will still be carpooling for 3 kids and wouldn't be able to fit all 4 when Andrea is home.

I would recommend a crossover if you don't want a mini-van. I don't really know much about particular cross-overs though. Just wanted to give my 2 cents about the Fit.

When are you coming back State-side?

You guys should get a really nice car with lots of space in the back (Cause poor Camille always ends up being squished back there!) And also should have a TV!

Okay - vacation's over, you have a new home, school is about to start...where are your blog updates? I want pictures - gee whiz, you act as if you have to unpack a moving van & get settled or something! I know Mary is a lot like Paul & has everything all organized already so what's the hold up?

mary, it is time to post some more pictures of the house, with your furnitures, your pictures on the wall, your flowers in the garden.
